UP offers ₹9.79 cr in warehouse subsidies
Subsidy approved by Uttar Pradesh government for ₹9.79 crore in capital subsidies, and it is for two private warehouse projects. It all happened in the first meeting of the empowered committee set up under the UP Warehousing & Logistics Policy 2022. The beneficiaries of this are OWM Logipark Varanasi LLP, which received about ₹4.89 crore for a ₹33.29 crore investment in an 8.94-acre warehouse in Bihra village, Varanasi, and KMRA Associates LLP, Unnao, which was allotted the amount of ₹4.90 crore for a ₹44.58 crore investment in a 12-acre facility in Rasoolpur village, Unnao. This is what Uttar Pradesh offers for warehouse subsidies.
Policy Background
It was properly launched in December 2022 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, by replacing the earlier 2018 policy. The aim is to promote modern warehousing, cold storage, logistics parks, dry ports, and cargo terminals, and also to support UP’s transformation into a national logistics hub by reducing supply chain costs and boosting investment.
Why is the Government Giving Subsidies?
Subsidies mean financial help given by the government to people, and here the Uttar Pradesh government gives subsidies to warehouse companies. This policy actually offers 15% subsidy, which is up to ₹5 crore, that the government provides to those companies to build warehouses, cold storage units, or logistics parks. The important goal is to attract private investments, especially in logistics infrastructure, and also to improve the storage of goods like food and industrial products. The most important thing is that it creates more job opportunities across the state.
Why Does This Matter?
This subsidy actually helps to build modern storage spaces in Uttar Pradesh, and it mainly reduces the wastage of goods like vegetables and grains. It also makes supply chains faster and cheaper for businesses, which is actually good for business. The other important factor is that it really encourages more companies to invest in UP’s logistics sector.
