Is Your Job at Risk? These 5 Logistics Departments Could Be Replaced by AI Sooner Than You Think!
The slow march of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our lives has not come with only advantages but also a set of disadvantages. Even as AI has made our lives easier by speeding up the time required to finish a task or giving us some information within seconds, Artificial Intelligence is not composed of only the good parts.
Because AI makes the work easier and concludes in a shorter period, companies and large-scale organizations think it is better for AI to take care of certain jobs. A study conducted by the University of Oxford had discovered that 47% of jobs in the United States are at risk of being replaced by AI over the next two decades, due to the cost-saving advantage that AI has . Similarly, the logistics department, which might have believed that they are untouched by AI, can also be at risk of its jobs being replaced by AI.
Some of the jobs at logistics departments, which are the risk of being replaced by AI, are discussed below.
Truck and Transportation Drivers
Even though it might take a considerable amount of time before it becomes a reality, there is a considerable push by companies to shift to self-driven or automated cars. Large companies such as Tesla, Uber, and Waymo have already invested a large sum of money in automated cars. The International Transport Forum reported that by 2030, automated trucks might reduce the need for drivers by 50%-70% in the United States and Europe. Thus, a push for automated cars or trucks will inherently mean that the transportation drivers will lose their jobs.
Warehouse Workers
The job of working at the assembly line in the factory might not exist anymore. Robots or AI automated tools shall take their place, with these automated machines doing the work with a lot more speed than humans might have. The

warehouse workers are responsible for sorting the items, packing or unpacking materials, all of which, for years now, have required the efficiency of human hands. But, with the advent of AI, robots or machines might be able to finish this task in a shorter span of time than a human would have been able to.
Customer Care
Customer care is an essential element of a logistics team. Consumers engage with customer care when their packages are delivered late. But with automated AI chatbots, now people can just choose to engage with these chatbots, which will provide them with the same information that a human being would have.
Delivery Agents
Reports have been published of companies like Amazon and FedEx trying out robots and drones to be used as delivery agents or courier personnel. Hence, an entire steam of job in the logistics department, which was taken care of by human beings, is now going to be done by AI.
Documentation
The work of documentation or looking into the several long databases of which items have left the warehouse and which are still to arrive, need not be done by human beings anymore. Machine and AI shall take over those jobs as well because they can do that faster.
Conclusion
Even as human beings are scared that they may be replaced by AI in the coming years, there is a human touch that makes the work more special. AI might finish the work in a shorter span of time, but the human touch shall always be missing,
