Missed Delivery? Here are the Real Reason Your Package Never Arrived

Nothing can be more frustrating for a customer than a delivery package that did not arrive on time. When a delivery package does not arrive on the estimated date of arrival, we end up calling customer care services or being anxious about whether your package was delivered somewhere else.

Even as different companies have their own rules regarding delivery and logistics, a missed delivery can be a real concern for the customers. Not just for the customer, but a missed delivery can be a significant problem for the business also. It causes a decline in the brand’s reputation and also a loss of money on the part of the company. A report, published by the Harvard Business Review, stated that major multinational companies lost out on billions of dollars every year due to failed delivery.

A missed delivery specifically signifies when a package does not arrive at your specified location on the date that they were supposed to.  There can be a variety of reasons for which your package never arrived. Below, we shall be discussing a few of such reasons:-

  • Logistics Issue

This is the most common reason for a package to not have arrived at your doorstep if it gets lost in the workings of the logistics. Packages are scanned by the carrier in the initial logistics phase. If the package gets scanned incorrectly or is missed to be scanned, then the package is bound to be missed to be delivered. Hence, the customer will not also be able to receive timely updates. The package, on the other hand, might be misrouted or has never left the courier center.

  • Weather

Inclement weather can also be a reason for missed delivery. If the weather at a certain place is bad because of either torrential rain or storm, it can be difficult for the people to deliver the items swiftly or even work at the courier center too might be difficult.

  • Damaged Label on the Product

All products are equipped with a shipping label on the body of the package. This shipping label and barcode are scanned by the delivery agents so that they are able to understand where the delivery address is. If this label gets damaged, then it becomes difficult for the delivery agent to scan the address. This can also be one of the pertinent causes for a missed delivery.

  • High Volume of Package Shipments

During the holiday, festive, or sale season, companies face a large volume of package shipments. In such times of extra pressure, the packages can get misplaced or lost in transit. The companies witness an increased surge in the number of shipments and if they are not properly staffed, there can be reasons for shipment delay or missed package delivery.

  • Mistakes on the Part of the Customer

Even though taking care of the delivery of items is the responsibility of the logistics team, there could be some mistakes on the part of the customer. These mistakes could be the reason why a delivery is missed. The mistakes could range from providing the wrong address or not

being at the specified location during the time of delivery. All of these mistakes on the part of the customer could also cause missed delivery.

Conclusion

These are the plethora of reasons for which a delivery can be missed. If you do miss your delivery, then make sure you connect with the customer care service. Most companies have a robust customer care service in place to guide you and provide you with timely updates in case of a missed delivery.
