Reasons Why Open Car Carrier Transports Are Rare In India Compared To European Countries

In many European countries, Open Car Carrier transportation is very common. You can easily see them on the highways. But in India such sights are far less common, most of the vehicle transportation in India happens through completely covered or completely enclosed carriers.

But have you ever wondered why this is the case?

Why India doesn’t promote open car carrier transportation.

Let’s explore the key reason behind this.

  1. Road And Traffic Conditions

In Europe the roads are well maintained and they have very predictable traffic patterns. So it is an easy and safe option to use open car carrier vehicles.

But in India the roads are often congested having many potholes and there is a high traffic risk. So in case of transporting in an open car carrier may lead to damage, theft and other risks.

  1. Whether And Environmental Conditions

Many European countries have stable weather conditions and they don’t have more extreme weather conditions and challenges.

But India is a country with diverse weather patterns and conditions. We have heavy monsoon, scorching heat and storms. This makes open car carrier transportation impractical. Otherwise the shipments will be heavily exposed to rain heat or pollution.

  1. Risk Of Theft

While European countries have better highway security and controlled parking zones they can use open car carriers as they don’t have much risk in this process.

But in India there is a significantly high risk because of unsecured highways and the possibility of thefts. When open car carriers are used, shipments and car parts like mirrors, logos, vipers have been stolen in the past. So India is avoiding open car carrier transportation for these reasons.

  1. Manufacturing And Dealership Preferences

In the European countries the dealerships and automakers trust open car carriers. They don’t have a problem because there is no risk.

But in India the manufacturers and dealers prefer closed and safe transportation to ensure that the vehicles reach their showrooms without any damage. This reduces the need for additional polishing of the vehicles before sale.

  1. Government regulation

European transport regulations allow open car carriers as long as there is no damage or concerns.

In India there is a strict limitation on overloading and vehicle dimensions making it difficult to use open car carriers.

In conclusion using open car carriers or closed transportation depends upon the area and region where the transportation is done. If there is no risk and the environment supports the dealers, manufacturers and the drivers will start using open car carrier transportation.

But there is no chance of seeing open car carrier transportation in India in the near future.
